Design-stage EMC/EMI engineering, troubleshooting and certification management.
Kenlock is a PCB and electronics design consultancy in Oakham, incorporated in 2015, offering portable on-site EMC testing (emissions, immunity, ESD, transients) for pre-compliance and diagnostics, alongside EMC consultancy and management of full compliance testing at partner UKAS-accredited labs for CE, UKCA and FCC. Its work spans analogue, digital and power-electronics design from initial concept through to production, plus PCB assembly and manufacturing.
Cherry Clough Consultants provides independent EMC and EMI design, problem-solving and training for manufacturers and system integrators, working from DC up to 24GHz against standards ranging from CE (EMC Directive) to DEF STAN 59-411. The company focuses on design-stage risk reduction, including guidelines on functional safety risks caused by electromagnetic interference that have since been adopted by the IET, IEEE and IEC. Its 35+ year client history spans a wide range of sectors (automotive, telecoms, industrial, medical, marine, railway, lighting, gaming and security equipment, plus military and nuclear installations), including named projects like the Diamond Light Source synchrotron and the ITER fusion reactor.
Eurofins Electrical & Electronic UK, formerly York EMC Services, has its head office in York and runs UKAS-accredited (1574) EMC, radio and EMF laboratories at Yate near Bristol, Castleford, Grangemouth and Southampton. Its work covers civil, rail and military EMC testing, radio approvals for the UK, EU, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan, on-site testing and EMC surveys, EMC consultancy and technical documentation support, and training courses. The company became part of UL Solutions in October 2026.
Product Approvals works as a product-certification consultancy from Telford, established in 2006 to help manufacturers and importers reach UKCA, CE and other overseas approvals. It has run its own in-house EMC test lab since 2018, with a semi-anechoic chamber covering the full emissions and immunity suite, offered on a CE/UKCA self-certification basis rather than as a UKAS-accredited lab; testing can be carried out in-lab or on-site for large equipment. It also runs a separate assembly and test facility for low-to-medium volume production.
WEMEC works as an EMC engineering consultancy from its Shefford base, guiding automotive, defence and marine sector products through certification rather than operating a fixed test chamber itself. Services include project management, product validation and on-site assessments, and the company has traded since incorporation in 2013.
